The First Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, will open in Beijing on March 4. The CPPCC serves as a major platform for conducting consultative democracy. President Xi Jinping has underlined the importance of the CPPCC on multiple occasions.
