This year’s National Disability Day, which is the 33rd one since 1991, falls on May 21. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, Chinese President Xi Jinping has earnestly cared for people with disabilities and the development of their cause, and has made important statements on respecting and protecting their rights. Xi is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
