Through the combined efforts of the whole Party and the entire nation, China has secured a complete victory in its fight against poverty, setting an example for the world and contributing to the cause of global poverty reduction. Chinese President Xi Jinping has said poverty alleviation is an important part of realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. Xi is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission. October 17 is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, and eradicating poverty has long been a prominent and challenging task in global development and governance.
