Premier Li Keqiang attended a press conference after the closing of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress on March 11. Some of the takeaways from Premier Li's press conference follow:

Economic development

-The growth target is not set in stone and China may achieve even faster growth in its delivery.

-A growth too fast will not be a steady one. You need a steady pace to sustain China's development for the long run.

-China is still a developing country, and there is still a long way to go before it can achieve modernization.

People's well-being

-The government will continue with the job-first policy.

-China aims to create no less than 11 million new urban jobs this year.

One country, two systems

-Always upholding the "patriots governing Hong Kong" principle will ensure steady and sustained development of "one country, two systems."

-We need to uphold the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus.

-The government will continue to enable Taiwan compatriots to share in the development opportunities on the mainland and promote cross-Strait integrated development.

Sino-U.S. relations

-China and the United States, as the world's largest developing country and the largest developed country, will gain from cooperation but lose from confrontation.

-The two countries need to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and refrain from interfering in each other's internal affairs.

International cooperation

-China had maintained communication with the World Health Organization (WHO) and provided the WHO mission support during their work in China concerning the origins of the virus.

-China is ready to enhance cooperation in science and technology with other countries on the basis of intellectual property rights protection.

-China's development will be a major contribution to world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
